Vienna Concert Hall
29.09.2023, 7:30 p.m., Berio Hall
Did you know? Beat the Silence presents performances of alternative folk music, beatboxing, and percussion.
The band Satuo featuring the vocal artist singer Laura Korhonen – Austria’s only professional singer with two cochlear implants – performs original alternative folk music.
The vocal rhythm artist Phillip Schröter performs moving rhythms, catchy lyrics, and sophisticated arrangements with and without a looping station.
The West African percussion group with Mamadou Diabate performs expert balaphone music and rhythms from their homeland of Burkina Faso with balaphones in the spotlight as the lead instruments.
As an additional treat, the signing poets and dancers Lucia Rosenfeld and Franz Steinbrecher present performances alongside many of the songs. Through a mixture of dance and sign language, they interpret song lyrics and bring art to life in their own ways.
In addition to these musical performances, there is an exhibition of “Hands Up” around the theme “Hearing”, which can be viewed before the concert and during the intermission.
The performance is equipped with an inductive sound system to facilitate an inclusive musical experience for folks with and without the ability to hear!
